Homescreens: Tone Aye
Who are you and what do you do?
Tone Aye, I do a bit of everything here on Mere Exposure. I am the all - Purpose, hypercritical (cc John Siracusa), mofo.
What apps do you use the most, and why?
Probably Tweetbot as my number one app, I spend a lot of time on Twitter throughout the day(as well as night) and this is by far the best app I've ever used for Twitter on mobile devices. As you can see, I do have the official Twitter client on my homescreen as well, it does have few features you can't get anywhere else, so it's best if you have this app hanging around as well.
Another one my favorite apps is Overcast, I listen to a shitload of podcast and this is the best podcast app for iOS. As far UI and functionality, it can't get much better. I would recommend this app to anyone that listens to podcast often.
What is in my dock?
3 stock apps and Tweetbot of course. Safari is a necessary evil, but I do have to admit it has gotten better over the last few iOS updates. Mail is another one, but I mainly use it for the VIP feature that is built in. I could easily swap mail.app out for Outlook version, which I like a lot better.
Which app could you not live without?
Tough one - but probably Tweetbot, I spend entirely too much time on Twitter.
Which app is your guilty pleasure?
Now this one is easy, Snapchat. I rarely post anything, but I spend a ton of time lurking on there checking out other people snaps. Huge fan of YesJulz, DJ Khaled, The Verge, Bleacher Report, etc. I really like what Snapchat brings to the mobile game.
What apps makes you most productive?
I take a lot of notes and do a lot writing in ia Writer. I am actually writing this interview in Markdown using ia Writer. Lately, I’ve been using Slack for the website, podcasts, and other projects we are working on.
What is your go-to music streaming app?
Tidal, honestly it is a powerhouse of an app. I admittedly like what they are doing over there at Tidal. There are a ton of exclusive content and perks. I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the Jay Z: B Sides concert, as well as other concerts made available through the service. I think if more people give it a chance, they will enjoy the app.
What is the app you are still missing?
Its tough to say, you don’t miss nothing you never had. Maybe a better stock camera app. A deeper file system integration for iCloud drive.
What’s your wallpaper and why?
I usually download a hi-res photo from street photographers. Currently I have an Ill Gander photo from his website, where he has several different photo packs free for downloading.
